The Research and Education Core addresses three aims:

  1. Provide support for and train minority Pacific Islander students at UOG to obtain a master’s degree related to cancer research, with a focus on cancer health disparities, under the supervision of one or more UOG and UHCC faculty members.
  2. Provide support for and train minority Pacific Islander students at the doctoral level in areas of cancer research, with a focus on cancer health disparities, under the supervision of a UHCC faculty member. The program will be enhanced by opportunities for supplementary educational activities.
  3. Support exchange visits for faculty members, as well as postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, to promote cancer research at the UOG and facilitate collaborative research projects with UHCC. Junior faculty researchers at different stages of career development will be provided with opportunities to advance their professional and scientific growth.
